HEALTH COMMISSION.
Addresses to the Chinese Community.
With Mr. See Tiong Wah J.P., in the chair a public meeting was held at the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, yesterday afternoon, when Dr. Hallam and Mrs. Rolfe, Commissioners for the N.C.C.V.D. spoke on the subject of combating the prevalent social evil. The addresses were interpreted into Hokien and Cantonese by Messrs. Ong Thye Ghee and Boty Kok Leong.
As it was a public holiday, the atten- dance was very good, and consisted of mem- ibers of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, re, rezentatives from various guilds, and teachers and eludents of many local Chin- cze schools.

In the course of his lecture, Dr. Hallam very ably spoke on the question of syphilis and ganoirhoca and the means of combat- ing these scourges. Ms. Rolfe who spoke from an economical point of view, showed some instructive diagrams and urged the formation of a local committee to educate the ignorant section of the Community.
